Narrow21 is a system extension for the Macintosh which makes the display from your built-in video appear narrower at the normal Macintosh 21-inch resolution of 1152 by 870. If your display appears too wide for your monitor and/or is shifted off to the left at the 21-inch resolution, then give this program a try.
Narrow21 has significant advantages over the similar system extension which comes with the E-Machines T16II monitor. Narrow21
• works on the newer Macintoshes,
• is more compatible with other software (doesn’t patch any traps),
• uses less memory and less processing time, and
• functions correctly in more situations (for instance, after exiting MacsBug).
COMPATIBILITY
Narrow21 currently works on the following Macintosh computers:
• Centris 610
• Centris 650
• Quadra 700
• Quadra 800
• Quadra 900
• Quadra 950
Monitors which are known to benefit from this software (there may be others as well) include the following:
• E-Machines T16II
• MAG MX-17S
• Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 17"
If you find any other monitors which require Narrow21 in order to use the 21-inch resolution, please indicate the manufacturer and model of your monitor on your registration form.
GETTING STARTED
Simply drop Narrow21 into your closed System Folder and it will be placed automatically into your Extensions folder. When you turn on your Macintosh with the built-in video in 21-inch mode, you should see the screen flicker at startup as the display narrows to fit your monitor. The Narrow21 icon will appear when the software is activated. If you haven’t yet registered, you will see a notice to that effect. This notice will go away after you register.
DISTRIBUTION
Narrow21 is shareware. It may distributed freely as long as it has no potential for profit (direct or indirect) by the distributor. Other distribution arrangements must be made with the author in advance. Any distribution of Narrow21 must include the following files (•) and folders (/):

• Version History
You can be fairly confident that your copy is not corrupted if the creation and modification dates of all the files are October 5, 1993, 12:00 AM.
The latest version of Narrow21 is always available by automatic e-mailing through the Optimus software archive. To find out how to get software from the archive, just send e-mail to "d.suggs@ieee.com" with "automail" as the subject and "help" on a line by itself in the body.
REGISTRATION
A nice feature of this software is that you may try it out before you buy it. Narrow21 may be used free of charge for 30 days. If you use it for more than 30 days you must register your copy immediately by sending $10 (US) to the author:
David Suggs
3101 Shoreline Drive, #311
Austin, TX 78728-4436
USA
Be sure to include your full name and your mailing address. If your name and address are printed on your check and you are only purchasing one license, then simply mail the check. Otherwise, you may print the Registration Form file or write your own form. You will receive a registration card which includes your serial number. When you type in your name and serial number using the Registration program, you will no longer see the notice indicating that your copy is unregistered.
The $10 registration fee will license one copy of Narrow21 for use on any one computer at any one time. The copy may be used by any number of people and may be moved from one computer to another as long as there is no possibility of it being used simultaneously on more than one machine.
